Shopping Tips

This page is dedicated to providing information about how to get household goods from Anchorage to your village.  There are a variety of companies that will shop and ship for you, and it can be very confusing trying to determine which is the best fit.  I have found that they are NOT all the same, and that some charge way more than others to do the same thing.  On the pricing comparison page you can see how based on a random 10-item sample, the most-used company in the state charges more than 80% more than it would cost you to do it yourself.  On a standard large order, everyone who orders with them is losing several hundred dollars. After years of doing this I still sometimes feel like I get a raw deal, so I made this page to help others get informed by some other method than the hard way.
